How to Start an OnlyFans
Updated October 29, 2026 · OnlyFans Finder team
Starting an OnlyFans takes an afternoon: an account, identity verification, a bank account and a price. Getting it right takes a little more thought, because your price, your profile and your privacy settings decide who finds you and what they pay. This guide walks through each step with real prices from 8,554 creator pages in the OnlyFans Finder index.
What you need
- To be over 18 and able to prove it.
- A government photo ID (passport, driving licence or ID card) and a selfie holding it, for identity verification.
- A bank account in your name for payouts, and your tax details.
- A phone or camera and some content ready to post. You don't need a studio.
Opening and verifying an account is free. OnlyFans takes 20% of what fans pay you — see OnlyFans fees for the full breakdown.
How to start an OnlyFans, step by step
- Sign up at onlyfans.com with an email you'll keep using for the page (not your work email).
- Choose your display name and username. Use a stage name. Your username becomes your link — onlyfans.com/username — so keep it short and the same as on your social accounts.
- Verify your identity with your ID and a selfie. Approval usually takes a few hours to a few days.
- Add your bank account and tax details so you can be paid.
- Set your subscription price — or make the page free (see below).
- Set up your profile: profile photo, banner, bio and location.
- Check privacy settings, including blocking your own country or state if you don't want people you know to find you.
- Post your first content before you promote, so new visitors see a feed that looks alive.
How much to charge
OnlyFans lets you charge from $4.99 to $49.99 a month, or run a free page. In our index the median paid page costs $10.00 and 23.3% of creators are free.

- Start near the median for your niche. A rock-bottom price doesn't bring more fans on its own; most money comes from pay-per-view messages and tips after fans subscribe.
- Free or paid? A free page collects followers faster and earns from messages and tips; a paid page earns from every subscriber. Many creators start free, or run a free page next to a paid one.
- Use discounts and free trial links for launches and promotions rather than a permanently low price.
Set up a profile fans can find
- Bio: say what fans get, in the words they search for — your niche, how often you post, whether you do customs.
- Location: a city or region puts you on city pages and in “near me” searches. Only 58% of creators list one. It doesn't have to be your exact town.
- Photos: a clear, safe-for-work profile photo and banner; they appear wherever your page is shared.
- Links: your X, Instagram, TikTok or Reddit, so fans can check you're real.
Stay private
- Use a stage name and a separate email and social accounts for your OnlyFans work.
- Block your own country or state in OnlyFans' privacy settings if you don't want to be found locally.
- Check photos for anything that shows where you live: windows, mail, number plates, landmarks.
- Watermark your content with your username to make leaks easier to report.
Get your first subscribers
OnlyFans won't show your new page to anyone, so your first fans come from outside: Reddit communities for your niche, X, safe-for-work clips on TikTok and Instagram, and directories. Our guide on how to promote your OnlyFans covers ten ways in detail. Once your page is public, claim it on OnlyFans Finder to see how fans find you.
